Rio Lagartos is an ecological wonderland where flamingos outnumber people, and natural salt baths flow from the earth. Home to 375 different species of birds, Rio Lagartos, is perhaps the greatest spot for birdwatching in all of Mexico.
Ek Balam is one of the great Mayan Ruins sites positioned at the Northern end of the Yucatan peninsula. Ek Balam is much less crowded than most major ruins sites and is one of the few where you can still climb the great pyramid.
You'll totally fall in love with the amazing pink color lagoon; it is located at 150 km from Cancun. Its pink color is due to the high concentration of salt, sun, and microorganisms.
We'll start at Rio Lagartos, where we'll take a small boat ride through the mangrove-lined waterways, spotting dozens of varieties of birds, crocodiles, cranes, grey and white pelicans, ibises and of course the dazzling pink flamingos.
 
 
 
Then we'll stop to see the salt mines; approximately 12 miles of pink lakes. After enjoying a delicious lunch, we'll head to Ek Balam, where we'll take a tour to the Mayan Ruins site, including the Acropolis and it's amazing carvings and walls. The last stop is the Mayan Village of Hunuku, where we'll have a chance to get to know the Mayan traditions and see how the local people live today.
